The successful candidate for this position will be a 1099 contractor with Music Ministry International and be responsible for the following:
1. SECTION 1. DESCRIPTION OF SERVICES
1.1. DESCRIPTION OF SERVICES: The Catholic Worship Accompanist and Choir Director (Music Director) shall accompany the Catholic worship services and rehearsals as identified in this PWS. The Music Director shall provide all personnel, equipment, tools, supervision, and other items and services necessary in accordance with this PWS. All work performed by the Music Director shall be performed in accordance with all applicable laws, regulations, standards, instructions and commercial practices.
1.2. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: The Music Director shall:
1.2.1. Have two years’ experience as a Catholic liturgical accompanist and leading choral and congregational music in a parish setting.
1.2.2. Have a degree in Music from an accredited institution.
1.2.3. Have experience with soundboards and sound systems (preferred but not required).
1.2.4. Audition is required using music of the week from the Respond and Acclaim, 2019 edition.
1.2.5. Undergo a government federal background investigation at government expense in accordance with Department of Defense Instruction 1402.5.
1.2.6. Undergo a successful background criminal history check at local (base), state and national levels, including an Installation Records Check (IRC), a State Criminal Repository (SCHR), and a National Agency Check and Inquiries (NACI). Music Director may be hired pending a successful completion of background checks at all levels.
1.3. PERFORMANCE OF WORK: The Music Director shall:
1.3.1. Coordinate with the liturgist appointed by the Catholic priest and or Wing Chaplain in selection of music. All music shall have approval from the Catholic priest or Wing Chaplain.
1.3.2. Perform and direct all hymns and Mass parts in conjunction with regular Masses and seasonal celebrations.
1.3.3. Serve as accompanist and director for the choir or other types of specialists, i.e. soloist, duets, quartets, etc., in conjunction with regular Masses and seasonal celebrations.
1.3.4. Perform other accompanist and choir director duties for the worship service as deemed appropriate or necessary by the Catholic Priest or Wing Chaplain.
1.3.5. Be present at the location where the service will be held at least 15 minutes prior to the service start time to coordinate with the Catholic Priest or Wing Chaplain and prepare for the service(s).
1.3.6. Will be issued a building key and will comply with proper key control procedures as outlined by the facility manager.
1.3.7. Shall direct one weekly practice session(s) for each Mass performed and ensure the chapel is secured upon leaving the facility. Shall ensure supplies and equipment are set back to their designated locations. The schedule for practices and additional rehearsals will be coordinated with the Catholic Priest or Wing Chaplain.
1.3.8. Enlist the service of a qualified substitute of equal or higher proficiency should circumstances prevent any of the obligated services from being provided. Absences will be projected as far in advance as possible, no less than 14 calendar days in advance. The Catholic Priest or Wing Chaplain in coordination with the Contract Officer Representative (COR) will approve suitable arrangements. There will be no paid sick leave or paid ordinary leave.
2. GENERAL INFORMATION
2.1. Hours of Operation. The Music Director shall perform the services required under this contract during the hours listed below unless otherwise noted (subject to change of worship schedules) in the Dyess Chapel Sanctuary or designated location as required. Music Director will be paid one unit for each service or rehearsal; duration will be approximately one hour.
