High Paying Executive Director, Clinical Laboratories Position available for a large Academic/Clinical Medical Cancer Center in Los Angeles California

Pay Rate : $96.61 - $161.34 per hour / The salary is listed as hourly, but this is a salaried role

Direct Reports : They will have 6 Directors who will report to them as Direct Reports:

  • Director of Transfusion, Blood Bank and their Donor Program
  • Director of Clinical Lab – Oversees Hematology, Chemistry and hematopathology (Flow Cytometry, Bone marrow, FISH, Phebotomy)
  • Clinical Director – Molecular Diagnostics
  • Director of Cytogenetics
  • Director of AP – Oversees Histology and Path Asst’s
  • Director of Quality and Compliance
  • They will also collaborate with their cancer center as well

Requirements :

  • They do NOT have to have the CA CLS License
  • ASCP Certification is required
  • 10+ years of experience in a leadership role (Supervisor/Manager), their most current level of experience should be Director.
  • MUST have an Academic and a Clinical Medical/Cancer Center Background experience
  • MUST have a Master’s degree or above.
  • The MUST have experience dealing with a large budget ($250-300million)
  • Must have Large Hospital management experience.

In partnership with the Chair of Pathology, the Executive Director is responsible for the direction and effective operation of the Department of Pathology which includes: the Divisions of Clinical Pathology, Anatomic Pathology, Hematopathology, Molecular & Therapy Biomarkers, Transfusion Medicine, and Pathology Informatics & Data Science. This position is responsible for the planning, controlling and monitoring operational performance of all clinical laboratories.

As a successful candidate, you will:

  • Manage and lead all programs and resources within all laboratories
  • Ensure compliance with departmental and administrative policies and procedures
  • Ensure compliance with Joint Commission, CLIA, CAP, AABB, FACT, state and federal regulatory agencies
  • Develop/monitor quality control and continuous quality improvement programs
  • Participate in interdepartmental quality management
  • Ensure that specimen collection, result reporting and turnaround times are optimal
  • Develop and implement system strategies and initiatives

Qualifications

Your qualifications should include:

  • Master’s Degree in Science or PhD
  • 10 yrs. experience with evidence of progressive responsibility for administration of a clinical lab with demonstrated abilities in above essential functions.
  • Experience in an academic medical center and/or cancer center
