Pharmacist-In-Charge
Directs multiple pharmaceutical services including pharmaceutical care activities for customer patients within the service area and monitors, documents and reports patient outcomes proactively. Oversees and directs warehouse operations, pharmacy inventory management, prescription compounding, dispensing process, home medical equipment management and supply management and delivery process.
Responsibilities:
· Help define scope of services and participate in organization-wide planning.
· Assess if company can provide pharmaceutical care to referred patients and assist in arranging care if needed elsewhere.
· Participate in decisions regarding pharmaceutical care services.
· Evaluate staffing needs and participate in recruitment and training.
· Develop, revise, and review standard operating procedures.
· Ensure compliance with state and federal regulatory agencies.
· Oversee pharmacy activities, including preparation of sterile products and dispensing.
· Prioritize patient and personnel safety.
· Manage costs and inventory.
· Provide counseling, guidance, and disciplinary action to employees.
· Foster an environment for employee growth and development.
· Collaborate with administrators, nurses, and physicians.
· Participate in patient care conferences and pharmacy in-service programs.
· Supervise procurement of equipment and supplies.
· Participate in contract negotiations and quality assurance planning.
· Assess staff competency and proficiency.
· Maintain pharmaceutical reference guides.
· Assist in marketing as needed.
· Manage production department, ensuring compliance with USP 797 standards.
Background Profile:
· Minimum 3-4 years' pharmacy experience, including managerial capacity overseeing pharmacists and technicians in hospital and home infusion settings.
· Strong written and oral communication skills.
· Experience in patient care, medication counseling, sterile product preparation, drug therapy monitoring, inventory control, and quality assurance.
Education requirements:
· Graduate of an accredited School of Pharmacy.
· Current license in Texas
· Completed The American Society of Hospital Pharmacists (ASHP) or equivalent aseptic technique course.
